How does ID TheftAvert protection compare to other identity theft
type services?

Do all banks have to call me before opening new accounts?
The Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act of 2003 states that
all banks and creditors must call you before opening new credit accounts. However,
there are exceptions and some creditors still ask personal questions or send letters
requesting additional verification. In all cases, they must take extra precaution
to make sure the credit application is not the result of identity theft. If a creditor
opens a fraudulent account without calling you first, we can provide a record demonstrating
that the creditor failed to honor your right to a phone call and use that record
to speed the recovery process.
How do banks contact me?
We assign a secure phone number to your account and places that
phone number in your credit file. When a bank reviews your credit file they will
see your fraud alert and call your assigned phone number. Our secure voice server
will answer and contact you immediately for approval.
Do you keep my cell phone number private?
Yes. We do not provide your personal phone numbers to banks or
creditors.
Can you call me at more than one number?
Yes. We offer a Find Me feature that will call you at up to three
phone numbers.
What happens if I miss a call?
If you are not available, we will leave a message on your voice
mail box asking you to call a toll-free number to approve a request. When you return
the call, we will play the request for your approval.
Is the warning call placed by a person or a computer?
It is placed by our secure voice servers, so there is no delay.
How can I be sure it is really you calling me?
While Caller ID can be faked, you can be sure it is us calling
when you hear your Voice Key played at the beginning of every call. During registration
you will record a personal Voice Key by speaking a short phrase like "I am safe
with ID TheftAvert™."
How are you different from credit monitoring services?
Credit monitoring services identify fraudulent activity after it
has occurred. We give you a warning call before the damage is done.
Will this service affect my ability to use my existing credit
cards?
No. ID TheftAvert™ only applies to opening new accounts.
Can a bank reject me because I am using your service?
Absolutely not - it is against the law. Contact us immediately
if this occurs.
Do I really need to worry about Identity Theft?
Identity fraud is becoming a national crisis. This year an estimated
1 in 6 Americans will have their identity stolen. Computer breaches are occurring
in record numbers through government agencies, universities, major corporations,
and other public and private organizations.
It can take years of frustration and thousands of dollars to correct
the mistakes and remove negative information from your credit report. In the process,
the damage to your credit can prevent victims from obtaining jobs, renting properties
and much more.
